3 Incredible trails in the Victoria area to take your e-bike

The Galloping Goose Regional Trail

Victoria has to be one of the most diverse and best places in Canada for e-bike enthusiasts, runners, cyclists, hikers and anything else riders. It’s home to one of the first lines of the Canadian Northern Pacific Railway, which has since been converted into a near 60km long journey. Welcome to the Galloping Goose trail.

Named for one of the best gasoline-powered passenger cars that used to run the line, the Galloping Goose is one of the biggest recreational trails in the area. More incredibly, this trail is part of the Trans Canada Trail, a national path system that connects every province and territory.

On your e-bike journey, you’ll pass through several distinct areas of Victoria’s environment, including city access, farmland and even marshes. If you want a long, easy ride and visual variety, the Galloping Goose trail is waiting for you!

Cowichan Valley Trail and the Kinsol Trestle

If its a piece of history you want to see when riding an e-bike, you should look up. No, really, look up! 44 metres above you, you’ll see the historic Kinsol Trestle. This enormous wooden structure, in its heyday, was railway for the Canadian Northern Pacific Railway to transport lumber from Victoria to Nootka Sound. Its name pays homage to the small nearby mining venture, King Solomon Mines, that ran for 3 years from 1904 to 1907. Because this trial was a railway prior, all the tracks are either gravel, dirt, or gravel and dirt, which makes for a very easy, smooth and even wheelchair-accessible ride!

The Lochside Trail

The Lochside trail is a real treat for nature-lovers and photographers alike. This old rail line, part of the Galloping Goose, is an easy 29km flat trail that offers gorgeous rural rides and connects up to other must-see spots. It’ll take you through wetlands, farmlands, suburbs, city lanes and back again, so there’s something for everyone. Be it walking, running, strolling, plodding, e-biking or even horseback riding, this is a nice and easy trail that connects all the best parts of the city. You can even visit places like the Heritage Acres, or make your way over to the former gold rush hotspot, Leechtown, in Kapoor National Park.
